Soul-Centered Self-Healing Secrets—Tip #1

Why a Growth Mindset is the Key to Self-Healing

Behind every failed diet or exercise program is a fixed mindset that didn’t support making or sticking to the changes needed. For example, someone with a fixed mindset might say to themselves, “I have trouble losing weight” or “I could never give up sugar”. Or, “I’m not athletic, I hate to exercise.”

They may even have thoughts like, “I don’t deserve to be healthy, or happy, or even to live.” Sadly, there are millions of people who live with a secret, silent or unconscious death wish.

These beliefs and thoughts will sabotage even the best intentions for a healthier lifestyle or self-healing.

On the other hand, a growth mindset supports you making or sticking to lifestyle changes and habits. A growth mindset believes that you can learn anything or succeed at anything—if you desire and work at it.

People with a growth mindset see themselves as able to learn new things or new behaviors, and have confidence that they have the resilience to face the challenges that come with learning.

For example, if we take the examples of the fixed mindset above, it would look like this, “I have struggled to lose weight previously, but I know if I just believe in my inherent ability to learn anything, create a plan that works for me and stick with it, I will eventually lose the weight and feel and look better.”

Unless one becomes aware of their negative thoughts, and then takes steps to turn those negative, limiting beliefs around, it is very difficult to create health or turn disease around,

Here’s how you can get started.

ACTION STEP:

Take out a piece of paper, or journal and write these sentence stems:

I want to get healthier, but ____________________________. (E.g.: Why bother? I have tried and failed so many times. It’s hopeless.)

I am afraid that getting healthier means ___________________ , and _________________, and ________________. I don’t know if I’m ready for that.

Start noticing when you are falling into fixed mindset mode and switch your thought(s) to a more growth mindset mode.

I hope your week is beautiful and filled with growth mindset thoughts and actions that bring you peace, satisfaction, and joy.

Much love and light,
